COMPUTER
SECURITY
by Prof. B.J. GLEASON
Along with the convenience of a computerized life and society has come the inconvenience of computer insecurity.  Hacking has become a real and constant source of trouble for our everyday electronic life.

How do hackers break into and take over our computer?  How do spammers trick us into opening up their e-mails, only to infect our system with viruses or steal our identity?  What can we, the ordinary computer users, do to protect ourselves?

Join Prof. BJ Gleason, Computer Systems Instructor, System Administrator, and experienced defender of computer security, who will explain all of this and show you some simple steps you can take to protect yourself on-line.

This presentation was original entitled Computer (In)Security and was part of the the “UMUC Presents”, a series is a public lecture sponsored each term by the University of Maryland Faculty.  This was the 69th lecture in this series.
